Need a Hug?

Hi there!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today!

I'm eager to share the card I made for my design team post, but first I want to remind you to check out the Freebie of the Day at the Miss Kate Cuttables store.

Okay, so I'll show you my card first and then talk a bit about it:

I did something with this Cute Octopus that never occurred to me previously.  I turned it into a digital stamp by converting the cut lines to print lines, making them thicker and selecting the print lines option.   I don't know why I never thought about this; but I just more than doubled my digital stamp collection by doing it and will look at cut files I may have passed over before in a whole new way.

I printed the octopus on water-color paper and cut it in a stitched circle.  I colored him using Copic markers and dotted the bubbles with Glossy Accents.  The mat is an inverted scallop Basic Black circle from the Silhouette store.  Here's a closer look at that:

I found two patterned papers I purchased l-o-n-g ago and embossed them with the D-Vine Swirls and Retro Circles embossing folders and placed them on a mat of Basic Black, punching all the outer corners with the ticket punch.  I wrapped some coordinating fiber across the middle before attaching the mat to the Whisper White card base and the focal image with dimensionals.  The greeting was typed in black using the CK Fairytale font; punched with a mat of Basic Black from a retired punch from Stampin' Up. Two large eyelets to the upper right for a finishing touch!

Inside, I typed a sentiment which plays off both the octopus and the greeting using the same font.

I encourage you to try doing this with one of your cut file to see if you agree it opens up a whole new world to you.

See you next month with another project!  In the meantime, I'd love it if you came for a visit to my blog and, if you do, please be sure to say, "hello".

For my card, I wanted a simple shape that would pack a punch.  The amazing images in the Unicorn Silhouette set were perfect!  Here's how it turned out:

*Cutting that fabulous unicorn out of gold glitter paper really made it pop!

I hope you enjoyed my project! I'd love to see some of you try one of these and share it on the Miss Kate Cuttables Facebook page HERE, or on my Facebook page HERE. TFL, and hope everyone has a chance to craft today :)

Luggage Tag!

Hello and happy Wednesday!  As always, don't forget to go and grab your Freebie of the Day!

For my project today I made a luggage tag for my daughters student council retreat....

I used the paw print from the I Love My Cat file and the "Polariod" frame from the 1-2-3 Smile File.  then I laminated it, punched a hole for the hanger and threaded an elastic band thru to attach the tag to luggage.

I hope that you will stop by again soon for more projects from our wonderful DT!

Guest Designer Martha Lucia Gomez

Hi everyone,
Martha Lucia from Stampartpapel here. I am so happy because today is my day to post on Miss Kate Cuttables Blog!!! This is the second year that I have had this opportunity and honor and I love to share with you. But FIRST I want to make sure you go grab the FREEBIE of the day!

As a designer I had the opportunity to choose the SVG that I want to use, which was hard work because playing with the Miss Kate Cuttables SVG Files is a real pleasure. So I decided to make two different projects, one for summer and one for Christmas in July!!!
Miss Kate Cuttables SVG Files
To make this card I used the Doodle Flowers. I cut these over different colors of card stock and after assembling, I made the base of the card using Whisper White card stock. I kept the base very simple because I want to maintain the focus on these fantastic flowers.

My second card is honoring Christmas in July and this Pinecone with Ribbon is simply perfect!

Miss Kate Cuttables SVG Files
I made this by combining non traditional Christmas colors, card stock and designer papers.

I hope you enjoyed my projects! I'd love to see some of you try one of these and share it on the Miss Kate Cuttables Facebook page HERE. See you soon!

Not Just for Paper!

Hello everyone! Hope your summer is going great. It's Amy from the Design Team and I have a fun and different project to share with you today.

Before we check out my project - just a reminder to grab the Freebie of the Day.

For my project I used Miss Kate Cuttables files and cut fabric on my Cameo. You just have to iron on stabilizer to the back of the fabric, place it on your cutting mat and cut away! Just make sure you have a sharp blade.

Three of the blocks on my quilt feature Miss Kate files. For this first one I used the Assorted Flower Set.
It worked perfect because it was a fairly simple cut.

I hand appliquéd around all the elements.

This one is my favorite - I just love this Decorative Doily file.
I just used one of the layers for my quilt.

Here is my final quilt. I took a beginners class held by my local Quilt Group - Norwin Quilters.
We meet once a month and it's a fun group!

Thanks for stopping by today! Stop over on my blog if you'd like to check more of my projects.
