Guest Designer Terri Burson

I've been a fan of Miss Kate Cuttables svg cut files for quite some time and consider this company to be one of the premiere sites for svg files.  So, when they asked me to be a guest designer this year, of course, I said, "YES!"  Today, I'm featuring a couple of their nautical files which includes the Sail Away Title and Sailboat.  These can be purchased and downloaded for .50 ea.  Of course, you can always grab the Freebie of the Day, every single day!

I thought it would be fun to actually cut my nautical designs with nautical papers.  Happily, I chose the Carta Bella Ahoy There collection.  They paired beautifully with my MKC cut files, don't you think?

To cut my svg files, I depend on my Cricut Explore.  I also used my Cuttlebug to cut the stitched oval frame as the backdrop for my focal point; that amazing sailboat.  The layered waves were made by using a 2" circle punch and simply inserting my cardstock partially into the punch, about 1/4" to 1/2" in, then punch.   I have 3 different wave colors, light blue, white and beige.  I fussy cut and shaped the top layer of waves to follow the inside stitched edge of my die cut.

You don't always have to follow the MKC graphic image samples.  It's fun to experiment with patterned papers.  Mix it up a little!  If you're not using the print and cut feature of your Cricut Explore, mixing solid and patterned die cuts adds a lot of interest to your designs.

Thanks so much to Miss Kate Cuttables for having me design for them today.  I had so much fun and look forward to making many more memories with my cut files for future projects.

Stop by any of my social media sites and say hi!
