Guest Designer Terri Burson

Hello, papercrafters!  Terri Burson here, from Waving My Wand, with my Guest Design Team post.  I'm thrilled to be sharing a couple of cards, the first of which features stenciling, using the Layered Rose Doily Bloom and Card Phrases.

I just happened to have the perfect designer paper in my stash to incorporate some of my MKC cut files.  The papers are from the Crate Paper Bloom collection and has "Hello" printed all over.   I downloaded the lovely Card Phrase quotes and cut the word Hello, included in this file.  Perfect!

Next, I trimmed the trio of rose blooms from the Layered Rose Doily and used it as a stencil on the designer paper, sponging on Ranger distress ink in Abandoned Coral .  I also used the print and cut feature with my Cricut to cut the heart duo; one of the shapes included in the card phrase set.  I changed the ink color to white on one of my hearts.   Love it!

Next, I made a scallop shaped card  by using the welding feature of my Cricut Explore.  I used one of the scallop base elements included in the Layered Rose Doily file, sizing it to 4.5".  I copied the image and rotated and stacked one above the other and welded two single petals together, then folded.  I used the print and cut feature to print the rose bloom doily, sized at 4" and changed to a light gray color for my black/white theme.

I wanted some sparkle on this card, so I went to the Card Phrases file again and cut "Thank You", covered it in a light coat of glue and sprinkled black extra fine glitter.  To speed things along, I used my heat emboss tool to quickly dry, then popped it up on foam squares.  All my adhesives are by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  Using the Flourish Leaf Set, I once again used the print and cut feature of  my Cricut Explore, changing my colors to gray and black.  I love being able to switch out colors in unexpected ways, and I really love the detail on these leaves.

I stacked my leaf stems and embellished with a bit of lace, silver thread and a bubble embellishment from DoubleClick Skittles.  Lastly, I accented my card with Perfect Pearls.

Thanks so much for having me!  Pop in and see me sometime on any of my social media sites using @wavingmywand or follow my blog at Waving My Wand.  I'd love to see you!

  3. Thanks ladies! I forgot to mention in my post, if you just want to print and cut just the outline, as I did on my printed Cricut cut images, simply pause machine after outline is cut, remove and cancel remaining cuts!
