I am so happy with how it turned out!  I used the Miss Kate Cuttables Cute Shooting Star file (minus the rainbow) and a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps to complete my first shaker card.  I tried a couple of new techniques for this project - if you would like more detailed info on how I made my card please visit my blog - scrappymel.blogspot.com.

Birthday Boys

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to be back on the blog today to share a birthday layout I created with some adorable Miss Kate Cuttables cut files. I mentioned earlier this month that July is my twin boys' birthday month, so I have been creating birthday projects -- and today's layout is another one. But before we get to that, be sure to grab the free file of the day:

I love these free files! Thank you, Miss Kate. :) Remember, today's free file is only free for today, so go grab it now...

For my project today, I created this layout:

Birthday Layout for Miss Kate Cuttables by Lissa Mitchell

I love how bright and fun it turned out. This layout is for a special birthday album where each spread is just one birthday. It's one of my most favorite albums because I love seeing how they've changed over the years. This is last year's birthday, and they're about to have their next birthday next week -- so this is finished up just in time. :)

I used the Bo-Bunny Surprise! collection to create the layout, along with these adorable birthday cut files from Miss Kate Cuttables:

Wish Big cut file set by Miss Kate Cuttables

I used the balloons from the Birthday Bash set and then the cupcake and stars from the Wish Big set. I love that all of Miss Kate Cuttables files all work together so well.

Forever Sisters Layout

First up, though, we have the FREEBIE of the Day!!

Sports Borders SVG cutting files for scrapbooking sports balls clipart sports svg cut files cricut cut files free svgs
Aren't these AWESOME!?  You could even use the starts for 4th of July pictures!
________________________________

This layout pretty much started from these photos and a sketch that I had pinned on Pinterest ( sketch by Jana Eubank!)

.

I like using sketches for die cutting projects because I can put all the elements into my digital mat (even if I'm not cutting all of them) and see how things are going to turn out, proportionally.  Here is what my digital mat looked like, once I decided on the files I wanted and the changes I would make to the sketch.

I didn't worry about the colors or exact shapes, but I did put the photos in the correct size and tried to keep the proportions very similar because I sized everything to fit with this, basic layout.

Here is my finished page:

As you can see, the finished layout has lots more embellishing and is really much softer because of the colors in my supplies.

Here are the files I used:
